Consumption in the App!
A few weeks ago we asked you to participate in a survey about our product, and the results are in! The most highly requested feature was “Consumption and Usage Data”. Thanks so much for your feedback – your input is guiding the future of Generac!
We’ve launched a beta version of consumption reporting, and it’s available now in your app! Check it out by going to your Historical Data tab under your tank level, and clicking on “Usage Reports”.
With this new feature you’ll be able to track your fuel consumption on a daily basis and view your consumption trends over time.
How does it work?
You provide the tank capacity (volume in Gallons or Liters), and the square footage of your home or building, our algorithm does the rest. Given the change in % on the gauge, we calculate the amount of fuel used.
Since this is a beta release, we know there may be some small issues with our algorithm which should already account for some tricky scenarios like:
– Fuel Deliveries
– Temporary missed readings
If you encounter any issues or have recommendations please let us know.
Why Consumption?
Efficiency starts with measurement – As a consumer, it’s valuable for you to understand how much energy you use. Having access to usage data shows you how your behavior affects your fuel consumption, and in turn, your fuel bill! Save money by using this data to improve your usage efficiency.
We have more features in the works!
This consumption algorithm and data about tank size and home size are building blocks for additional features that will bring you peace of mind. These features will be available to you soon:
Delivery Detection – Tracking the changes in your tank level allows us to notify you when your tank is filled. This will keep you up to date on the status of your fuel availability.
Anomaly Detection – If you usually use 3 gallons per day, a 30 gallon drop over one day might indicate a leak or another urgent issue. Generac can alert you about any anomalous usage, making sure you don’t run out of fuel unexpectedly!
