Career Questions
Q: What led you to Generac?
A: I have an engineering degree with a focus in product design and I took a lot of sustainability classes in college. I decided that I didn’t want to be an engineer while I was in college and wanted to work with people more than a traditional engineering role would allow. When I heard about Tank, I was motivated by the sustainability aspect of the company. I didn’t know what I was getting into at the beginning but it has turned out to be really cool and a good choice. As I grew at Generac, I found that the fun and interesting problems to solve were mostly in operations so I kind of just focused on that.
Q: How would you explain your role at the company in a nutshell?
A: My title is Operations Analyst. My role has changed a lot and is kind of always in flux. Lately, I’ve been mainly focused on manufacturing operations and making sure we can drive towards the goal of being able to fill orders as quickly as possible and essentially making sure that we are meeting our customers’ needs as best as we can.
Q: What do you love about your job?
A: I like that I have a lot of impact. It’s very easy to see how my role impacts the success of the company overall and I get to do things that are new to me. I have a lot of leeway to sort of teach myself stuff. I have the opportunity to try things and actually learn from doing them. I like the team a lot also and I think we do a super good job for a startup at prioritizing work/life balance. We’ve also done a super good job of bringing on people who are very collaborative and willing to work together or work on something that is new or risky.
Getting to Know Casey
Q: What is one thing that people don’t know about you?
A: As a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut and I think that’s what drove me to go to engineering school. Another thing some people may not know about me is that I played rugby for a long time through college and a few years after.
Q: What energizes you and brings you excitement?
A: I really like our team and that’s a big motivator for me day-to-day. If I’m working on a project, collaborating with someone is a lot more fun and exciting than working on something solo.
